Why Ferguson, Missouri Should Piss You Off

I had originally written about 1800 words of my perspective on the situation revolving around the shooting of Michael Brown by the law enforcement officer Darren Wilson.  My scathing monologue of the events hit on aspects of both police militarization and how they have recently acquired weapons they don’t need for policing activities, and the Ferguson community’s overreaction to the death of Michael Brown and subsequent police response to it.  Both sides being equally irresponsible in their actions leading to an awful situation all around.   An awful situation made worse by intervention from interests outside of the both the Ferguson citizens and the local police force.  This is what you should be pissed off about.

That's a big dude, taking up the entire doorway like that. Can't imagine someone being intimidated by him.

Shortly after the shooting occurred, the mass media corporations were contacted and descended upon this St. Louis suburb like a cloud of seagulls upon a piece of carelessly discarded pizza crust. All of them were eager to get right in the middle of the foray and in process cause an additional irritation to the police officers trying to contain an already hostile situation. Now, on top of rioters and looters, they faced the potential hazard of idiot news crews trying to get right into the mix of a racially charged protest that had the potential to turn south real fast. Then we are left with tidbits of half assed, no context having feedback of big scary officers arresting crying reporters without reading their rights or telling them why they were being arrested. Well, what these one sided, police protesting reporters didn’t tell you is that they were detained, not arrested. There were no charges filed. There were no rights read. The reporters were in fact in a dangerous situation and rather than risking the publicity of white reporters getting murdered by a racial riot, the police opted to remove them for their own safety when they refused to leave. These reporters were detained, plain and simple, which a police officer can do if he has the proper justification.  Justification that would come in the form of non-compliance to being told to vacate an area that they were trespassing on.

Appearances are everything. Your claim of being "confused" probably looked to be your disobedience to an officer trying to get you to safety and subsequently resisting and causing a scene when they tried to prevent your idiotic actions.

Sounds like you weren't arrested at all then. How about you stop crying about being ushered out of an area where a race riot is occurring?

And the nail in the coffin. This reporter that was "arrested" doesn't even know what earplugs look like. Genuine expert material from these reporters.

But like all agenda driven reporting for big new corporations, these clowns took to the Internet, where everyone is a barracks lawyer, and suddenly the cops were being oppressive, and trampling their 1st amendment rights and it was such a travesty that more and more reporters showed up to get their exclusive clip of the police brutality. It became so bad that the police had to contain the reporters in certain areas to keep them from running amuck and pissing off the ever growing mob. To the reporters, this appeared facist. To the police, they were maintaining the safety of their “visitors” by keeping them out of the powder keg. But it will never be seen that way, because news corporations need ratings.

Don’t ever forget, that every little bit of news that is reported is all presented to you, the viewer, because that is what they believe it is going to take to keep your interest on their channel so that they may then obtain ratings. They will take a story about a kid petting a bunny and twist it into an epic tale of a kid holding a bunny hostage over the period of an hour, with clips of well armed police spliced in, just to get you to want to pay attention. It has become, all and all, utterly ridiculous. It is not above them to find a reason to stir the pot just to get a rise from people. And because of this, I have now coined the term “McNugget News”. The story you get is so ground up, mashed together, and opinionated that by the time you receive it it has gone from looking like baby chicks, to looking like the pink paste that McNuggets are made from.

It’s sickening to see. It’s worse to watch people eat their McNugget News with BBQ sauce like it’s no big deal. That is what has been occurring in Ferguson, Missouri.

Like I had mentioned, I had originally written a lengthy piece berating the actions from both sides of the fence, but in the days since, I have found that there are people out there trying to build a bigger fence in the middle of things. Fence builders such as the news corps I already mentioned and opportunists like Jesse Jackson and AL Sharpton.

Both of the latter names have done nothing but incite hatred and try to collect upon the disparity and depravity involved in the situation. Jesse Jackson has even gone as far as to ask for donations for his church during a rally. These hate mongers should be ejected immediately when they enter such a confrontation because they are never there to do anything more than prey on the grieving community and incite their brand of racial bigotry disguised as inequality of a minority. It could have simply been a police officer shot a man and he is innocent until proven guilty. Once those two became involved, the terms white and cop became interchangeable. As did the terms black and victim. It still has not been proven that Michael Brown was indeed a victim, nor that Darren Wilson murdered him unjustly. There will be a day that those facts are established. But while you allow your tempers to be flared by a race baiting media source, remember this: neither you, nor them are the judge, jury, and certainly not the executioners. Gripe and bitch all you want about the unfair justice system, but at the end of the day, that is the only thing we have that even attempts to keep innocent people from being lynched when they are believed to commit a crime. If you can’t accept that an educated judge and a jury of community peers can determine in an organized manner that a man may in fact be innocent despite popular uninformed belief, then our country is simply not for you and you should probably go to other places to find the brand of justice that suits you. While you are there, hope that you are never disliked for being foreign, because more than likely they will just lynch you there instead of giving you the chance to prove your innocence of whatever drive they accuse you of having committed.

To recap all of this. You get fed racially charged hate by news corporations so that they may obtain ratings while opportunists use your grief to get rich and incite fear and injustice while undermining the system that has done the best we can expect to keep the innocent safe from angry, misinformed mobs that got their McNugget news from big news corps. This is why Ferguson, Missouri should piss you off.

Stay hidden; stay safe.
